Ceramic gas distribution ring – highlight of FormNext

A ceramic gas distribution ring for the coating of computer chips was a trade fair highlight of FormNext, the world trade fair for additive manufacturing. Alumina Systems GmbH received the "Best Component Award" for this gas distribution ring this year. At Alumina Systems' redesigned booth, numerous other ceramic-metal composite components whose production was only possible through 3D printing could be visited. Even with the issued gas distribution ring optimized nozzles are installed. These specially shaped nozzles could not have been made without 3D ceramic printing. Thus, the production of the gas distribution ring would not have been possible. The ceramic ring developed at Alumina Systems in Redwitz (Upper Franconia) is four to six times more durable than the previous solution made of titanium. In addition, it shortens the coating time of the chips with it to about one third of the previous time.
