Alumina Systems GmbH was honored at the closing event of the 5th Environmental Management Convoy organized by the Environmental Protection Association of Lower Franconia (FUU) in Würzburg for successfully achieving EMAS certification. Along with three other companies, Alumina Systems successfully completed this demanding certification process.
In times of global challenges, climate and environmental protection are becoming a key focus for responsible companies. Participation in the Environmental Management Convoy was a significant step for Alumina Systems in establishing sustainable processes and optimizing its environmental performance. Implementing an environmental management system based on the European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) is a proven tool for systematically improving environmental performance and ensuring transparency.
Recognition at a Ceremonial Closing Event
At the official closing ceremony held at the Burkardushaus in Würzburg, the participating companies were honored by Dr. Stefan Müssig, Chairman of the FUU, along with representatives of the Würzburg-Schweinfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and regional representatives from Upper and Middle Franconia. In addition to Alumina Systems GmbH, Naturstrom AG, Frankana Caravan und Freizeit GmbH, and FREIKO Handelsgesellschaft mbH were recognized for successfully completing the program.
Dr. Lukas Kagerbauer, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Würzburg-Schweinfurt IHK, praised the commitment of the companies and emphasized the importance of EMAS as a premium standard in environmental management. The certification not only enables improved resource utilization and cost savings but also strengthens the companies’ competitiveness through a sustainable image.
Numerous Benefits of EMAS Certification
With its successful EMAS certification, Alumina Systems benefits from numerous advantages: enhanced reputation among customers, suppliers, and employees, improved opportunities in tenders and supplier evaluations, and greater legal security. Furthermore, the certification allows for more efficient resource utilization and makes a valuable contribution to environmental protection.
As an additional highlight, Alumina Systems can now also become part of the Environmental & Climate Pact of Bavaria and use its distinctive logo for communication. This underscores the company’s strong commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices.
Looking Ahead
The success of the 5th Environmental Management Convoy reaffirms the high relevance of sustainable corporate management. Since October 2024, the 6th convoy has been underway with six additional participating companies on their path to EMAS certification.
